Short story, this conditioner is thick, rich, amazing, smells incredible, and just a little actually works for my grey, curly, past-my-shoulders-length hair. Buy it.
Longer story:
I've used a number of salon brands (edit them out if it's not appropriate) like Aveda (loved the natural and ethical ingredients (?). And Redken when I was coloring my hair for decades, until the quality, especially the conditioner, tanked... and the ingredients...well.... And none of these were Canadian. My kids both love Lush, so they got me on to the bar shampoos and conditioners. I love the wasteless part, and did this for several years.
During Covid, like many people, I grew out my silver, that had been taking over since my late 20's. The cleansing bars smelled great and felt like they were doing the job, but for my wavy/curly grey... having to add extra product was just sticky, and without it, it was a frizzy, dull, coarse mess.
And then the tariffs. Elbows Up. I've always preferred to shop local and Canadian, and for skin care, had recently gone to The Ordinary... and was using five - six different products over almost a year with limited results until I found out who bought them out (boooo!).
But then I found Basic Maintenance. I know this is a conditioner review, but I'm also plugging the shampoo, moisturizer, face cleanser, the #4 thick moisturizer, and the lip balm. It was the two-step skincare process and the well-explained science behind the CANADIAN products that initially sold me. I came back for the shampoo and conditioner and lip balm. Now I'm waiting on the Everything Oil, because I'm 60, and, well, it can't hurt *laughs*.
I will be a customer for as long as this company stays Canadian and in the hands of Andrew and his fantastic team.
